A few days ago, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs issued a new batch of national variety approval announcement, launched a number of high-quality green rice, dense and easy to harvest corn, high-oil and high-yield soybeans, high-quality insect-resistant cotton new varieties. In recent years, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs has continued to strengthen the standard management of variety approval, and the number of national varieties reviewed throughout the year has continued to maintain a steady downward trend since 2022.

It is understood that among the new varieties approved by the State in this batch, there are 251 varieties above grade 2 of rice quality, accounting for 57%, 31 varieties of "three good" varieties with high quality, high yield and green (disease resistance), and 4 varieties of saline-alkali resistant high-quality rice; A number of new varieties of corn were approved and introduced, and the planting density per mu increased by 1,000 plants compared with the conventional density, reaching 5,500-6,000 plants. The average yield per mu of 70 varieties in the Northwest spring corn region and 2 varieties in the Northeast Spring corn region exceeded 1,000 kg. The oil content of 4 newly approved high-oil and high-yield soybean varieties is higher than 22%, the yield of the district test is about 200 kg per mu, and the protein content of 5 high-protein varieties is higher than 45%. The fiber quality of 32 cotton varieties reached high quality type II or above, accounting for 64%. These new varieties can better meet the needs of agricultural production.

In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will further strengthen the coordination between the ministry and the province, strictly enforce the management of variety test certification, regularly carry out green channel and consortium test regulation, formulate and introduce variety test management measures, strengthen the demonstration and tracking evaluation of new varieties, increase the revocation of varieties with no promotion area and obvious defect risk in production, and continue to improve the quality and level of variety certification. It provides strong variety support for the increase of grain and oil crop yield in large area.
