Pinned Wooden Beaters, Staves and Lags

From Interlocking "Tongue and Groove" Lags, to Flat Lags with Scallops, we have made Pinned Lags and Staves for the Textile Industry for over 139 years now. We have the designs for most of the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) Lags and our pins are hardened and tempered for long life and excellent opening.

Unique Design

The unique Stewart design of interlocking aluminium alloy staves has firmly established itself in the world's fibre industries with its extended life and strength. Many hundreds of 1000s have now been supplied to well over 60 countries over the past 60 years with their accuracy and long life now legendary. Indeed some of the original staves are still running after many repinnings. For high density pinning, our staves have now demonstrated their accuracy and reliability over some 30 years.

Interlocking Staves

The Interlocking between our staves means that adjoining staves contribute to the total strength of the assembly, and greatly reduces the chance of a catastrophic failure resulting in a card smash.

Fewer Screw holes

Fewer retaining screws are needed because of the combination of the strength of the aluminium alloy and the patented interlocking system. This reduces gaps between the pins, producing better carding and easier maintenance. In many cases the staves and lags can be made double the width, further reducing the problem of gaps. However the screw holes are still positioned so that the METALAG staves can be fitted in the place of wooden staves without modification.
